Children & Adolescents
An adolescent or child psychologist has a special interest in treating psychological problems in younger age groups. At Positive Mind Works, we are able to offer psychological help to children and adolescents via telehealth to support young ones with the challenges they may be facing.
Supporting Adolescents & Children
Seeking psychological treatment for your child or teenager can feel like a big step to take. Parents may be unsure whether their child’s actions and feelings are merely a difficult but temporary aspect of “growing up,” or whether their behaviour would benefit from accessing professional help.
When a child’s issues are interfering with their capacity to engage in age-appropriate activities, psychological help may be beneficial. If the child or adolescent is not able to attend school on a regular basis, their grades are declining, or you notice that they are having difficulties with friends or participating in physical activities, not eating properly and not sleeping well, these are all signs that something is amiss.
At Positive Mind Works, our team of child psychologists and adolescent psychologists are here to provide support using evidence-based techniques that help to identify and work through any difficulties families may be facing. The adolescent/child psychologist will also likely want to meet with you as parents too, in order to gain insight into your child’s strengths and difficulties and education for parents on when to intervene in certain circumstances is also provided. The main goal of your adolescent/child psychologist will be to help your young one to feel better equipped to manage their struggles.
We know that parents and young ones may have mixed feelings about accessing an adolescent/child psychologist but rest assured – our team have much experience in connecting and collaborating with young ones to make the therapy sessions positive and motivating for all.
