About Me

Moira is a New Zealand Registered Psychologist and Counselling Psychologist who uses a warm, empathic, and pragmatic style with her clients. Her approach is client-centred. She listens carefully, adapting evidence-based therapies to meet individual needs, and guiding the client toward their chosen goals. Moira is trained in CBT, ACT and EMDR. Moira has worked with adolescents and adults. Her qualifications are in organisational and counselling psychology and she has many years of experience working with individuals in the corporate, education and primary health sector. Her aim is to help clients work their way through their presenting concerns, provide them with skills to boost their overall wellbeing and resilience, and find more meaning and purpose in their day-to-day lives. Moira is a registered counselling psychologist with a Master of Health Science (1st Honours), a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology, and a Master of Social Science in Organisational Psychology. She is also a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society (NZPsS).

Moira is committed to offering empathetic and effective support to her clients. She integrates a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-informed approaches. Moira’s areas of experience include ADHD, anxiety, phobias, depression, relationship/couples/polyamory issues, adolescents, grief and loss, trauma including CPTSD, and LGBTQI+ matters. Her focus is on providing tailored strategies that help clients manage their mental health and lead fulfilling lives.

Moira resides near the beach on Auckland’s North Shore with her busy blended family, which includes three teenagers, two cocker spaniels, and her partner. She also has two adult stepchildren and a delightful new step-grandson. The dynamic and supportive environment she lives in enriches her understanding and approach to therapy. Moira has a love for English and Art History, finding inspiration and relaxation in these subjects. She finds it impossible to pick a favourite book, likening it to choosing a favourite child. Her broad range of interests informs her holistic and creative approach to psychological practice.
