

Clinical Psychologist
Gaynor Parkin is a skilled and compassionate clinical psychologist with over 30 years’ experience working with individuals, couples and teams. Gaynor understands both the challenges and joys of navigating personal change and brings a wealth of psychological experience to the therapy process. Gaynor is adept at tailoring interventions to match each person’s personality style, utilising the best tools and insights to deepen self-awareness and improve wellbeing.
Alongside her clinical work Gaynor enjoys translating psychological science into usable resources. She is the author of two books I’ve Had it Up to Here: From Stress to Strength, and Together: Te Oranga o te Katoa and writes a regular column for The Guardian newspaper’s Modern Mind.
In her early career Gaynor worked primarily in Adult Mental Health in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Then following some years in a psychology teaching role at Victoria University Gaynor founded Umbrella Health, a workplace wellbeing company. As CEO she led numerous engagements with public and private sector organisations in New Zealand providing individual and team mental health support. She sold the company to New Zealand Health Group in 2019.
