About Rory McRae

I’m proud to be part of the team here at POSITIVEMINDWORKS.

Taking that step to seek professional support takes courage and finding someone who is a “good fit” as a therapist to share your history with can feel overwhelming. What I know is that everyone’s journey is different. When you come into a session with me, I want to understand you and your story, and I want to take the time for you to understand your own strengths and help you build your resilience to feel more confident in managing difficult periods of your life.

I am a registered Psychologist in Australia. This has not been my only career path, and it is my own lived experiences together with my psychological practice that provide me with a unique lens in which I operate as a psychologist. I have worked in education, owned my own businesses, lived overseas, am a father and a husband. In these moments I have encountered challenges, disappointment, setbacks, success, joy, happiness.

I am incredibly grateful that clients have shown faith in me to engage in evidence-based treatment, and it is rewarding to see individuals flourish and to be able to incorporate meaningful change to improve their wellbeing. I see my role as being able to collaborate and work with you, in a trusting, non-judgemental and supportive way. A feature of my work is to focus on a strength-based approach that incorporates your own values and aspirations.

I employ a range of therapeutic approaches (CBT, ACT, motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology) and have a history of supporting those with anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress management, grief & loss.
