I am a New Zealand vocationally registered and highly experienced psychiatrist with more than 20 years of expertise in clinical psychiatry, psychiatric rehabilitation, and a PhD in neurocognitive research. My career has spanned from hospital-based psychiatry, academic medicine, private practice, to international research, giving me a broad and well-rounded perspective on mental health care.
I have a strong background in clinical psychiatry, psychiatric rehabilitation, neurocognitive research, clinical trials, and neuroimaging studies, with a proven record of publications and academic leadership. Alongside this, I have extensive experience teaching and supervising across multiple disciplines, including psychiatry, neurology, psychology, and nursing.
In my clinical practice, I take a holistic, culturally sensitive, and collaborative approach. I believe that the best outcomes arise when treatment decisions are made in partnership with patients, built on empathy, mutual respect, participation and shared understanding. My therapeutic philosophy combines scientific expertise with a humanistic focus, supporting each person’s journey toward recovery and well-being.
