Kate Steadman
Kate is a Clinical Psychologist registered in NZ. She is also a provisional member of DAPAANZ for addiction practitioners. Kate has experience working in the public sector with individuals struggling with moderate to severe mental health and addiction issues where she currently works part-time. She uses primarily Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to assist clients with identifying their goals and setting targets based on the individuals needs and what they hope to achieve at this time. Contacting a therapist for help can be uncomfortable, and Kate works especially hard to ensure the clients are comfortable and feel heard at the outset. Kate is warm and approachable, whilst also placing emphasis on honesty and genuineness. She can easily relate to many different kinds of people and she enjoys learning from her clients as well as each client brings something new to therapy. She works from the perspective that whilst she may be knowledgeable in a range of psychological issues, the client is the expert on themselves first and foremost and they often bring their own strengths and abilities to therapy. Kate has experience working with a range of presenting problems from
- addiction
- depression
- anxiety
- trauma
- personality disorders
- developmental disorders.
