Dr Hany Ghabrash

Dr Hany F. Ghabrash is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists with extensive experience in Youth and Adult Mental Health in Australia and overseas. He is a senior lecturer at Griffith University School of Medicine and at Melbourne Medical School, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Dr Ghabrash has published a few papers on the physical side effects of psychotropic medications and the cultural impact of psychiatry. Dr Ghabrash has worked and received advanced training in Consult Liaison Psychiatry, General adult community, adult inpatient mental health, as well as child and youth community and inpatient mental health. Dr Ghabrash believes in the recovery principle of patients with mental health difficulties whilst focusing on areas of strengths, inclusive approach of their significant others and the value of therapeutic alliance. Dr Ghabrash has special interest in:

  • psychosis
  • personality vulnerabilities
  • OCD
  • mental and physical wellbeing
  • the impact of relationships and trauma on mental health and resilience.
He is a member of the American Academy of psychosomatic medicine and the Australian Medical Association and is registered as a specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency.
