Anger triggers the body to respond to a threat, this is otherwise known as the flight/ fight response. A boost of adrenalin surges through the body giving you energy and the feeling tension. This powerful emotion can feel like it takes over to the point that some people feel “out of control”. Extreme anger can be described as “seeing red” or “zoning out”, in which the flood of adrenalin through the body is powerful and potentially frightening. If unchecked this can sometimes be followed by a regrettable physical or verbal reaction, with an individual lashing out at others or themselves.
